EO Robotics Lab is a pioneering Zambian tech startup specializing in embedded systems and robotics. Beyond creating innovative technological solutions, the lab is deeply committed to promoting STEM education and empowering the next generation of engineers through hands-on learning and mentorship programs.
At the helm of this dynamic lab are co-founders Obrey Muchena III and Edward Phiri, two passionate innovators shaping Zambia’s tech landscape.
Obrey Muchena (right) is a robotics engineer and STEM advocate, known for his dedication to expanding STEM opportunities in Zambia. As founder of EO Robotics Lab, he has guided numerous students in coding and robotics through programs such as the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge and TME Education. His notable achievement includes developing a humanoid robot that earned him a gold medal from the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA) and OFEED Morocco, highlighting Zambia’s potential on the global stage.
Edward Phiri (left), also a co-founder, is an embedded systems engineer and roboticist who combines his technical skills with a passion for teaching. He has played a crucial role in educating both students and adults on robotics and embedded systems, building projects for clients, and fostering analytical thinking and innovation. Edward’s commitment to STEM is reflected in his mentorship and his fascination with how technology can drive positive change.
Both Obrey and Edward are ambassadors of the IMEF Ambassadors, further demonstrating their dedication to nurturing Zambia’s technological growth and inspiring future generations.
Together, through EO Robotics Lab and their ambassadorial roles, they are not just building machines,they are building futures, one student and one solution at a time.
