Google Chat Takes a Cue from Slack with New Huddle Feature

1 Min Read

Google Chat is bringing a fresh twist to team collaboration by rolling out its own version of Slack’s Huddles. With this new feature, users can instantly transition from text chats to voice or video calls—no need to leave the conversation.

Simply click on the call icon, select “Start the huddle,” and you’re ready to talk.

While the feature is named the same as Slack’s—”Huddles”—Google adds the option to switch to video calls or screen sharing, just like in Google Meet. This seamless integration makes it easier than ever to collaborate without interrupting your workflow.

First teased last year, the feature is now rolling out and will be available to all Workspace users in the coming weeks.
