MTN Zambia Launches Affordable Alola 4G Smartphone to Expand Digital Access

MTN Zambia has launched the Alola 4G smartphone in Lusaka’s Chawama township, an affordable device priced at K695, designed to make digital connectivity accessible across Zambia. The event featured remarks from Technology and Science Minister Hon. Felix Mutati, ZICTA Acting Director General Collins Mbulo, and MTN Zambia CEO Abbad Reda, each highlighting the smartphone’s potential to bridge Zambia’s digital divide and drive digital inclusion, particularly for underserved communities.

The Alola smartphone includes features such as 32GB storage, dual SIM capability, and a 2500mAh battery, and comes with 3GB of free data per month for three months. Minister Mutati praised MTN’s efforts in supporting the government’s digital inclusion goals, calling Alola a transformative tool for economic growth and digital education. Collins Mbulo reinforced ZICTA’s support, noting MTN’s role in making secure, affordable devices widely available. MTN Zambia’s CEO emphasized the company’s commitment to ensuring that more Zambians experience the benefits of a connected life through this budget-friendly 4G smartphone, now available at MTN service centers nationwide.
